Humana Military Buildout

Located within an existing facility at a retail center in Harrisonburg, Va., this 12,617 square-foot buildout was completed for Humana, Inc. The buildout consisted of demolition of the existing facility from previous tenants.

The floor was cut and patched to run sewer lines for new examination sinks and restrooms. J&S Construction constructed metal stud walls which included insulation and sheetrock on each side. Since the building did not have an existing sprinkler system, corridors were constructed with one-hour fire rating to facilitate egress.

Cabinets, acoustical ceilings and floor finishes were included, as well as hollow metal frames and pre-finished solid corridors. A 400-amp electrical service was installed for lighting and receptacles. Category five cabling was installed from each exam room/administration area to the owner’s IT room. A nurse call system was also installed for each restroom, the mental help therapy/group therapy rooms.

The existing HVAC system was reused and duct work was remodeled and added to condition each room.

All sinks were stainless steel and bathrooms were constructed to be handicap accessible.

The facility also included laboratories, blood draw areas and a teleretinal screening room.

This project was completed in less than three months, ahead of schedule and under budget.
