Members of J&S Construction’s management team were recently asked to speak at a weekend conference for the American Institute of Architects’ Central Kentucky Chapter, which was held at the Lake Barkley State Resort Lodge in Cadiz, Ky.

Jack Stites, J&S Construction president, joined Johnny Stites, chief executive officer, to present J&S’ approach to energy-efficient design, citing statistics that showed many LEED® certified buildings are not energy-efficient, and that energy efficiency is cause-worthy of singular pursuit.

The conference also included a presentation by Dr. Kit Wessler of Murray State University on his work to restore the Wycliffe Mounds, a presentation by AIA’s Anne St. Aignan providing the history and research of Lake Barkley Lodge, a visit by Kentucky Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker in which she provided the Parks Department’s new initiative on energy efficiency and energy management, as well as a presentation on Edward Durell Stone given by his architect son, Hicks Stone, AIA.

J&S Construction has designed and built over 131,000 square feet of LEED certified space and this facility will be the seventh project J&S will have certified through USGBC. To learn more energy-efficient building techniques, visit www.jsconstruction.com or contact 931-528-7475.
